Interesting thoughts on Facebook as my Friend Relationship Manager software, gleamed from the similarities between Facebook and a commercial CRM software.

Maybe Twitter Can Upgrade Their Server Infrastructure
Garrett Smith | May 23rd, 2008 — Social Media | Share This
Social media channel of the hour, Twitter, announced that they have received $15 million in another round of funding backed by original investor Union Square Ventures and (reportedly) Spark Ventures.
I am really happy for them.
Maybe now they can afford to find a team of engineers that can scale the platform and fix their infrastructure. Twitter is great, when it works. When it doesn’t, it’s just another over-hyped, under performing web 2.0 time suck.
Enough said, I have some “Tweets” to send out.
Facebook Still Disabling Accounts
Garrett Smith | May 23rd, 2008 — Facebook News | Share This
I have heard from over 40 people via two posts over the last fews months about Facebook disabling accounts. It seems that Facebook is still having trouble differentiating between actual spammers and those who are not spammers, but may be conducting activities that are “spam-like.” I have long feared this to be a problem because as Facebook continues to grow. Due to the size and number of users Facebook has grown to and the subjective nature of certain activities, I can’t see these sorts of “wrongful” disables stopping any time soon.
Anyone know of a particular way to go about reactivating your account?

Ashley Alexandra Dupre Facebook Profile Now Private
Garrett Smith | March 22nd, 2008 — Facebook Groups | Share This

Ashley Alexandra Dupre…welcome to the limelight.
This girl is all over the Internet because of her ainvolvement with a high-end prostitution scandal involving the governor of New York Elliott Spitzer. She is not just popular on tabloid sites, this call girl is blowing up on Facebook since the scandal occurred. Not that this comes as any surprise since Facebook mirrors real life in so many ways.
A quick search for her name returns 21 different groups and one “fan” page.
Ashley Alexandra Dupre at one time had a public profile page, but it is now private, no doubt a reaction to all of the positive and negative attention.
I wonder if Ashley Alexandra Dupre is regretting the idea to be so public and forthcoming with her self promotion?
Facebook On A Banning Frenzy?
Garrett Smith | March 22nd, 2008 — Facebook News | Share This

Over the last three days I have received an influx of emails from people who have been banned from Facebook. In addition to these emails, there seems to be an influx of people hitting a post I wrote about being banned from Facebook a few months ago.
Is this increase in activity indicative of Facebook “clamping down” on “SPAM like” behaviors due to the increase scrutiny they are facing over privacy concerns?
I Want More From My Facebook News Feed
Garrett Smith | March 19th, 2008 — Facebook Applications | Share This
I always have four tabs open in FireFox: Facebook, Google Reader, TechMeme and Google News.
Tabbed browsing is great. It beats multiple windows, but it would be much better if I could have all of that information all on one page.
Since Facebook is the only one of the four that has an “open” platform, it would be killer to be able to access these three other sites (all in feed form) right through my Facebook news feed.
The ability to do something like this would make Facebook the destination. The starting place. The place I hang out online.
For Facebook this would be a boon. After all, it has to be better to be the place than just one of the places people go.
Anyone know what it would take to make this happen?
